Natural Weight Training – Why its important

First we need to understand what Natural Weight Training is. If your goal is fat loss or to gain muscle mass, you need to lift weights, plain and simple.

If your goal is fat loss, lifting weights of some type, will keep you from losing muscle mass. If you only focus on weight loss, you will lose muscle mass and your body will actually burn fewer calories. The result of the muscle mass loss could cause you to eat less food and actually gain back the fat.

If you goal is to gain muscle mass, you need to lift progressively heavier weights to cause the muscle to grow. This growth in muscle mass will result in your body burning more calories 24 hours a day. The benefit of the additional muscle is not only appearance , it also allows your body to burn more of the fat every hour of every day.

The phrase “Natural Weight Training” is simple: Using weights without the use of steroids or other supplements for muscle mass growth or the use of chemicals for fat loss.

So many of today’s diet plans and even the bodybuilding routines are un-natural. By this I mean they do not fit 90% of peoples natural lifestyles. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that sitting on the couch eating junk food and watching television is natural or that eating 3 times per day at the fast food joint is natural. Natural in reality is eating good quality food in the right amounts while getting enough exercise.

Un-natural is using chemicals for fat loss and workouts that were designed for top bodybuilder or people that are using muscle mass building supplements. Also included in Un-natural is eating every day at fast food joints or sitting watching television while stuffing junk foods into our systems.

So why is natural weight training important?

Simply put, it makes you healthy while keeping or adding to your muscle mass.

There are hundreds if not thousands of highly promoted fat loss plans, that thousands of people are doing, that say you can just eat this or take this and lose 5 pounds per week. All of this without changing your eating habits or doing any type of weight training. Most of these programs will cause you to lose muscle mass and based on body fat percentage, you could become even fatter while weighing less.

The results of most of these diet plans is:

Loss of water weight: We are 70% water so losing water weight is not healthy.

Loss of Muscle mass: Muscle mass burns fat 24 hours per day so you can eat fewer calories to get fat.

Loss of bone density: Especially the Ladies know that losing bone density is not a good thing.

Loss of body fat: Yes losing body fat is good. Is 1 out of 4 good?

To lose fat without losing muscle mass or limiting the amount of muscle mass lost, you need to include resistance training into your fat loss program. Resistance training is a politically correct term for weight training. I guess for some people this gets them beyond the physiological blocks against working hard. For the ladies, this is a nice way to say you will not become huge and bulky like the bodybuilders.

If your goal is to add muscle mass or if your goal is fat loss – then your long term goals need to include natural weight training along with a sensible diet.
